Blackjack Games: Lucky Blackjack
There are tens of different versions of the game of blackjack and every variation has its own rules and winning odds.
One of these many versions is one called “Lucky Blackjack“, which is a mixture of card and table game with fast-paced action and superb winning odds.
Unlike most other black jack game variants, in Lucky Blackjack you’re not trying to beat the casino with a hand closest to 21 or higher than the dealer’s hand.
You play Lucky Blackjack by placing wagers on any of the seven different values that you guess will be the final value of the dealer’s hand.
Players are not dealt any cards in Lucky Blackjack. Players can only place a wager on the dealer’s hand value and the dealer will play until he stands, hits 21 or he’s busted.
As we’ve mentioned, players will be placing bets on any of the seven available options: 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, Bust and Blackjack.
You will noticed that the lowest hand value you can bet on is 17. This has to do with the house rules whereby the dealer has to draw to 16 and Stand on all 17′s – hard and soft.
Bet Options & Winning Probabilities
So far the game looks simple and straightforward but the big question here is, what should I bet on?
In order to have a better understanding of the winning odds of each of these seven possible outcomes, we first have to analyze the odds of the dealer having each of these final hand values.
The odds that the dealer will get a natural Twenty-one are 4.82% compared to 7.36% chances of the dealer creating a hand that totals 21 (drawing cards from the shoe).
Now, betting on the dealer having a final point value hand of 20 offers an extraordinary 17.59% odds of winning.
Please note that out of the 7 options, this one is the one with the best winning odds.
Another possible outcome is that the dealer will draw a hand that it’s 19 in point value. This bet offers you a 13.48% odds of winning the bet. A stake on the dealer’s hand being 18 has a probability of 13.81%.
The last option is to bet that the dealer will reach and stand on 17. If you bet on this option, there’s a 14.58% odds of winning the bet.
As you know by now, it’s not possible to place a bet on a point value of 16 but it’s important to note that the dealer is more likely to draw 16 than any other hand value (16-21); the probability of this happening is a staggering 28.36%.
Why is this relevant, you may ask? Well, the rules of the game dictate that the dealer has to Hit when he has a hand value of 16 and the odds of the dealer going bust after hitting with 16 are an impressive 42.08%.
These two last facts will definitely be helpful in deciding the attractiveness of betting on Bust.
Whilst placing bets in Lucky Blackjack may seem absolutely random at first glance, understanding the statistics of Blackjack and the odds of drawing different hands proves that there is more skill to this game than one may have imagined. Have fun playing Lucky Blackjack and good luck!
